About The Charros

Founded in 1961 as a special activity organization of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, the Scottsdale Charros consist of 40 Active members and over 200 Life members dedicated to serving the community through the promotion and support of education, youth programs, and economic development that preserves the past while looking to the future.

The Charros and the City of Scottsdale are hosts to the San Francisco Giants Spring Training games held at Scottsdale Stadium during March of every year. Funds are raised through the sale of advertising, banners, and tickets to the Charro Lodge. The season begins with the First Pitch; an annual silent auction, dinner and dance. Proceeds from Spring Training and the First Pitch are donated by the Charros back to the community, making the organization one of Scottsdale’s largest philanthropic contributors.

Among the most notable accomplishments of the Scottsdale Charros is their dedication and support of excellence in education. For 50 years, the Charros have provided time and financial support to athletic programs, parent-teacher organizations and the faculty of each school in the Scottsdale Unified School District. Recognizing the importance that education plays in the community’s future, the Charros annually award college scholarship funds to two Scottsdale high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in education.
